Hi There!!!
It is wonderful to finally meet the 'right' one!!!
Rashid and I corresponded sometime in October 2003 via email and than chatted on MSN almost everyday. We discussed things that were important to us and found that we were almost of like minds.
Rashid had wanted to come to Singapore and meet me. I was shocked and quickly suggested that we meet each other half way - we settled on Paris, not a bad settlement to say the least. So, that was set in December 2003, right after Christmas! Of the many factors involved in our decision on Paris, the 13-14 hours flight we each would take took was a major "fairness" factor. Although, the City of Lights had its own special draw for us as well.
We were really glad that we got to ask the important questions and got that out of the way. It seemed rather clinical at first, but it allowed us to focus on personalities and issues without any major hormonal distractions! Now, once in Paris, we could concentrate on romance. Since I had been to Paris before, it was nice seeing it through his eyes. We enjoyed each other's company immensely.
Rashid popped the big question on New Year's Eve and I said, "yes". The fireworks at the Eiffel Tower that evening celebrated how we felt and warmed our hearts even more despite the bitter cold. We woke up to a brand new year and a new beginning together.
Leaving Paris and coming back home alone was the hardest thing. I was sobbing on the plane, looking like a clown as my eyes were swollen and my nose was as red as Rudolf's. "What if he changed his mind when he got back?" I thought I was a fool.
Actually, our feelings just got stronger each passing day. Rashid came to Singapore less than 1 month later during Eid-ul-Adha to meet my parents and family. He formally asked them for my hand in marriage after three days. Needless to say, my Mom and Dad went over the moon and have not come back yet!
I have since relocated in order to be with Rashid. I must say that it is indeed wonderful to be a housewife and his friend. It is not all 'honky dory' but we are getting there.
Thank you Shaadi.com for doing this for us.
